It's okay; I can hear your groans all the way through the interwebs... someone else spewing about how CGI has ruined movies, like we haven't heard that before. But, especially after watching a few twenty to thirty year old movies over the Christmas Break, it continues to be clear to me that movies have completely lost a sense of peril after the advent of CG effects. Sure, at the end of 1989's "The Wizard", we see Corey, Jimmy, and Haley sitting in the back of Beau Bridges' pick up truck, seemingly happy and with all of their familial problems solved by Jimmy rocking Super Mario 3 in the Video Armageddon. 3D is a Fad? Can something that's been around 60 years be called a fad?

It's just another part of... me? I don't remember the lyrics at all
I read over on Jerry Beck's blog Cartoon Brew this morning that Leonard Maltin claims all of the recent 3D buzz is reminiscent of the same advertising and hype that was trying to be built up back in the 1950s. And Jerry, close to Leonard's argument, surmised that 3D is a fad that will disappear again. Well, Leonard and I didn't agree about the movie Gremlins, and I'm sure not agreeing with him now. Here's why... or at least, the attempt I made at why...

No April Fooling... Disney gave the Jonas Bros. a sitcom...

Because these faces are the new faces of comedy...
Driving into work today, Disney replaced one of their full-time owned billboards on Highland Ave. with a giant Disney Channel ad for "Jonas: The Comedy Show" with the tag line, "The Family that Rocks Together, Rolls Together" and the three brothers all looking as stoic as ever in their promotional photographs. Because when I think Jonas Brothers, I think comedy stylings... I hate to sound like the Maître d' in Ferris Bueller but I really weep for the future.
