Comments for What Would the Wolfman Do?

Way old...

Whoa... Drew, I don't think I've heard any of the 90s standards on oldies radio quite yet... but that'll definitely be an even rougher day. I wonder if Billie Joe knows that he's considered an oldie?

Feeling old...

I think it'll be more significant for me when the music of my "formative" years comes up on the oldies playlists. Perhaps it's because my music repertoire in the 80s was more limited to what my parents had in their cassette deck (essentially Beatles and Dan Fogelberg), but I think I'll be rocked to my core far more when I flip the radio to the oldies station here in Chi-town only to be mule-kicked by "Glycerine" or something from Dookie pumped out with a "reasonable" level of bass and treble equality. Hopefully I'll hear from ya soon regarding additional Dreschers. You know where to call.

Rick Astley is my hero!

Ok, not really...but loved the Rick Rolling reference. I honestly think no one even knew who he was before people started up that whole Rick rolling trend. Well, I knew who he was, but let's face it...I'm a total music aficianado (or is it "music geek"?). Anyhow--you're way behind the times--every time it’s closer to the end of another decade, KRTH adds the next decade of music to their repertoire. I have noticed this all of my life. When I was just a wee lass, I can recollect the times of only hearing 1950's classics on KRTH. I remember being 4 years old, playing at my best friend’s house when her father was listening to it all day long on the weekends...all you heard on any “oldies” station was music from that era (the 50's). This was, of course, the 70's though. Then in the 80's, they added 60's & in the 90's they added 70's...and of course, now that it is 20 years past 1980, they have added the dear old 80's to their stock. I felt old when I first heard them play the Bee Gees & Fleetwood Mac, but come to think of it, I can recall a time when they didn’t even play the Beatles because they weren’t considered “oldies” just yet! So, all I have to say is--at least you didn't notice it way back then, because then you would be old. Lesson here: you still have your youth--well, until you notice them stacking on yet another decade of music.
