1994

That year seems about right to me. Late elementary-early-junior-high was right around then. Oh, Parker Vista, how you no longer exist. Apparently Shelly and I drove past it this summer right before the tore it down. We even drove through Franktown, but not as far as your abode. Wished you were there!

The Project Log....Plog

Oh yes, there are always projects. I'm doing more sculpting lately and painting up a bunch of Tyranids (think Geiger's Xenomorph only less "sexy" and more "stabby") on a lark with some guys at the local game store. I've been scratch off sculpting what is turning out to look like some kind of funky cyber-mastiff. This year I'll be taking a break from the competition scene as the only painting comp this year for GW will be in Baltimore right around when Shelly plans on pooping out the little one, so no dice there. I may have to go to GenCon and expose myself to this "gamer funk" I hear so much about. The hockey team is back in first place and hoping to secure our spot in Toronto this year. Other than that, not much big news. You need something built/sculpted?

Yo!

Hey, sir! After writing this I did a little research and found out that they tore the Skyway out in 1994... for some reason it seemed like it was much longer ago, right? It's funny, the Star Tours shop still remains one of my favorite destinations to window shop at (rarely do I buy anything anymore sadly)... but that's awesome that it's the genesis of your painting... speaking of which, any recent projects?

Firing up the wayback machine...

Troy, you're spot on. Reading your entry just hit me with a slew of late-elementary, early-junior-high age Disney memories (that age being the only time I went to Disney Land). In fact after sitting through the EO experience, I took a ride on the skyway with my parents catching most of the Spin Doctors playing "Two Princes" live in the park. Damn, that really ages me doesn't it? One other influential memory this conjures up: All through EO and on the Skyway I was clutching an awesome-tastic Star Tours bag, the contents of which were the Star Wars Miniatures Game Rulebook by West End Games, and three blister packs of pewter Stormtroopers, ready for some painting. That was, in fact, the genesis of my miniatures painting hobby. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
